Sound License
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This page explains, in plain language, where and how you can use the Sounds you generate with SFX Loom. Each Sound’s license is fixed at the moment it is generated and is shown on that Sound’s page. This license is part of our Terms of Service.
Commercial license
A Sound has the commercial license when both of these were true when it was generated:
- you had an active paid subscription (Starter or Pro), or had bought at least one credit pack; and
- it was generated with a model whose provider permits commercial use — currently: ElevenLabs SFX v2.
With a commercially licensed Sound you may:
- use it in games, apps and software you sell or distribute, including commercial releases;
- use it in videos, trailers, ads, streams, podcasts and social-media content, including monetized content;
- edit, cut, layer, process and mix it with other audio;
- use it worldwide, without royalties, for as long as you like — even after your subscription ends.
Personal license
All other Sounds have a personal license. This applies to Sounds generated:
- with only the free credits, before any purchase; or
- with a model whose provider’s commercial terms we haven’t been able to confirm yet — currently: Kling Text-to-Audio.
You can use personally licensed Sounds for personal, non-commercial projects, prototypes, game jams and evaluation. To use a sound commercially, generate it again under the commercial license. If a provider confirms commercial use for a model, we will update this page; that change applies to Sounds generated after the update.
What you can’t do with any Sound
- Sell, license or give away Sounds on their own — as individual files, sound packs, sample libraries or stock-audio collections — or in a way that lets others extract and reuse them as standalone sounds.
- Register Sounds with content-identification systems (such as Content ID) or claim exclusive rights in them against others.
- Use Sounds, or the Service, to train, fine-tune or evaluate any AI or machine-learning model.
- Use Sounds to impersonate real people, deceive, defraud, harass, or break the law, or in any way prohibited by our Terms.
- Imply that SFX Loom or our AI providers endorse your product, or use their names or trademarks.
Important limitations
- No exclusivity. Sounds are generated by AI. Similar Prompts can produce similar or identical Sounds for other users, so we can’t grant you exclusive rights, and other users may hold the same rights to a similar Sound.
- Copyright. In many countries purely AI-generated material may not be protected by copyright. We grant you the rights we and our providers are able to grant, but we don’t promise that a Sound can be registered or enforced as your copyright.
- Your Prompts. You are responsible for not prompting for protected material, such as a recognizable trademarked sound, a copyrighted recording or a real person’s voice.
- Provider terms. This license is subject to the terms of the AI providers that generate the Sounds. If a provider’s terms require us to change this license, we will update this page; changes won’t take away commercial rights you already received unless the law or a court requires it.
- Breaches. If you breach our Terms or this license, your rights to the affected Sounds end automatically.
